In June 2023, NASAA updated how it calculates the passing score for the Series 65 exam. Previously, a score of 72 was required, or 94 correct out of 130 questions. Now, that number has been reduced to 92 correct answers. As a percentage, that comes to around 70.7%, but NASAA stresses that what is important is not the percentage but the number correct - 92 out of 130.

With NorthStar's Green Light program, we add 3 percentage points to the required passing score on our own final exams, so we have adjusted our Series 65 passing score down to 74%. If you score a 74% or greater on all our final exams, on your first attempt, we will give you the Green Light to sit for the real exam, which you can take with confidence.

In addition, NASAA has added the following topics to the Series 65 exam:

• Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs)
• Liquid and Nonliquid REITs
• Digital assets
• Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investing
• Governmental benefits – income related monthly adjusted amounts (IRMAAs)
• Donor-advised fund (DAFs)
• Trade execution and payment for order flow
• Exploitation of vulnerable adults
